Bio

Beginning his undergraduate education at Eastern Michigan University (class of 1994), Kevin went on to earn his Doctor of Law (J.D.) degree at Wayne State University (class of 1997) with magna cum laude honors. While maintaining such attention to his studies, Kevin demonstrated his ability to deftly manage several simultaneous projects as an active member of the Wayne Law Review, the student moot court, and holding the Chair position of the Free Legal Aid Clinic, Inc. Upon completing his graduate degree with honors, Kevin served as a legal clerk under Michigan Supreme Court Justice Michael F. Cavanagh, a position he successfully held for two years.
With his legal training complete, Kevin transferred to the world of private practice with efficiency and success. Since joining Gentry Nalley, PLLC, Kevin has represented over two hundred clients in not only the Michigan Court of Appeals but also at the Michigan Supreme Court, the United States Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals, and the United States Supreme Court. In addition to his investment in his private practice, Kevin pursues a career as an active adjunct professor of legal research at the Michigan State University College of Law, a position he has occupied since 1999. Though legal research is his primary academic interest -- signifying Kevin’s commitment to detail and thorough investigation in the law – he also teaches courses in writing and advocacy. Described as genuine, invested in student development, and knowledgeable by his students, Kevin has garnered significant respect in the academic community at the Michigan State University College of Law. Many students also remarked on Kevin’s ability to infuse legal with creativity and wit, values that highlight his deep-rooted understanding of the law.

Despite this active professional career, Kevin is committed to keeping a pulse on numerous organizations and upholding his several bar admissions, ranging from the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals to the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan, the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Michigan, the State Bar of Michigan, and the United States Supreme Court. Memberships to the Order of the Coif, the Phi Delta Phi fraternity, as well as the Appellate Practice, Family Law, and Criminal Law areas of the State Bar of Michigan, add depth to Kevin’s professional activities. Kevin also strives to actively participate in the maintenance and discussion of the law with extensive appearances in the Detroit Free Press, the Detroit News, the Livingston County Press & Argus, and Michigan Lawyers Weekly, as well as features in Time Magazine and NBC’s Today Show. In 2001, Kevin’s amicus curiae brief to the Michigan Supreme Court during the People v Sabin case also earned the Distinguished Brief Award by the Thomas M. Cooley Law Review.
